《中国人民解放军海军(英文版)》介绍了中国人民解放军海军（People's Liberation Army Navy，PLAN）是中华人民共和国的海上武装力量，是中国人民解放军的战略军种，是海上作战行动的主体力量，以舰艇部队和海军航空兵为主体，担负海上作战任务的现代化合成军种。其主要任务是独立或协同陆军、空军防御敌人从海上的入侵，保卫领海主权，维护国家海权。随着“中华神盾”导弹驱逐舰、052C、052D导弹驱逐舰、039常规潜艇以及苏—30、战略导弹核潜艇、核动力攻击型潜艇，以及岸基远程导弹，辽宁号航母，飞豹等战斗机的相继服役，中国海军具备了万里集结，远洋作战的攻防能力。
